Our Story

Life In The Holler

We cultivate heirloom varieties, bake slow-fermented sourdough, and share the quiet satisfaction of small-scale country living right from our kitchen table.

The Philosophy

An afternoon spent with soil on our hands is simply proof of doing something real, grounding us to the rhythm of the seasons.

The Homesteaders

Welcome to Little Elk Creek Holler

Welcome to our little slice of Appalachian living.

We are Melissa and Brian, and we lived tucked deep in Little Elk Creek Holler. Life in the holler isn't about rushing around. Everything seems to slow down a bit-from the morning mist clearing off the ridges, to the way we keep up with the garden and listen to the creek run. We live in a quite corner of the mountains where hard work, digging in the dirt, and a handshake still mean something. True holler living means to slow down, respect the land, and appreciate the rhythm of these hills. Little Elk Creek Holler is where we put down our roots, and it is our favorite place to practice the kind of simple, honest Appalachian living that keeps us connected to the God, our heritage, and each other.
